Today we feature a cool Ethnic String instrument from DSK. DSK of course has been featured previously on this blog as well. This string VST is packed full of useful ethnic sounds that can give a world-class world-wide sound in your recording. Musically, these sounds are very useable, and may inject some much needed harmonic life in to your melodies, jams, and sessions.
As part of a breakdown, these instruments can play a key role as a distractor from the main theme of a piece. They also work layered underneath percussion such as kicks, snares, or cymbols even in some cases, to build up and then subsequently break down the beat, or cut altogether as part of an abrupt shift in the theme.
They truly do enable a good amount of musical techniques, for the creative minds among us! Pick up a copy, give it a try, it’s free. Nothing really to lose. Features list is below for those who want more in depth information on the software.
Feature List:
– ethnic string instruments, 8 total:
Celtic harp, Cumbus, Dobro, Kanun, Koto and Dulcimer
Tar, Turkish oud
– Rate limiter
– Amp. envelope and lfo-detuner
– High and Lopass Filter
– automateable Midi
This VST will load in any standard Windows 32 bit Digital Audio Workstation. Audacity will run this, if you are looking for a free Audio Workstation. I personally recommend Ableton Live!, Logic, or even Sony ACID will do the trick, if you want a more higher end (but costs some money) DAW.
